1. What are the YMCA’s facility and Child Watch hours?

Facility:
Monday through Friday: 5:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.


Child Watch Hours:

Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

2. What is the purpose of the joiner Fee?

The joiner fee was adopted by the YMCA of Southern Indiana to give us the capital to expand/maintain the facility and add equipment. The membership fee you pay only covers the day to day operations of the YMCA.

Although we had a successful capital campaign a few years ago to expand the facility, we use the joiner fees to make up the difference in what we raise and what we build.

3. How is the Y managed?

The YMCA of Southern Indiana is a charitable not-for-profit, qualifying under Section 501©(3) of the U.S. Tax Code. Each YMCA IS INDEPENDENT. YMCAs are required by the national constitution to pay annual dues, to refrain from discrimination and to support the YMCA mission. ALL other decision are local choices, including programs offered, staffing and style of operation. The national office, called YMCA of the USA, is headquartered in Chicago.

The YMCA of Southern Indiana has a 19 member Board of Directors which hires a Chief Operating Officer who hires his/her staff.

4. What is the YMCA of Southern Indiana affiliation with the YMCA of Greater Louisville, Harrison County and Scott County?

As mentioned above, each YMCA IS INDEPENDENT. Although we share the same media market and are a part of the Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA). We all set our own fees and policies within the guidelines of the YMCA of the USA constitution.

Each YMCA adopts programs and services that relate to the communities they serve.

5. What is the service area of the YMCA of Southern Indiana?

Each YMCA registers its service area with the YMCA of the USA. The YMCA of Southern Indiana serves Clark and Floyd Counties in southern Indiana. This means we must respect the other YMCAs when promoting our programs and membership.

6. Why can’t I use my YMCA of Southern Indiana membership in Louisville, Corydon, or Scottsburg?

Again, we are all separate, independent YMCAs, with separate governing boards setting fees. We do have a reciprocal membership with the YMCA of Greater Louisville called the Community Wide Membership. This membership is good at any of the Louisville YMCA branches, the YMCA of Southern Indiana, and Corydon. However, the YMCA that sells the membership receives the fees. We obviously encourage you to purchase this Community Wide Membership at the YMCA of Southern Indiana.
